Vintage Royal Traveller Hat Box Luggage; Marbled Cream/Silk Interior;Locks W/Key
This amazing round hat box travel luggage case is by Royal Traveller, a division of Shwayder Bros., Inc. The hat box is made of sturdy hard plastic in a marbled cream beige color with silver tone hardware on the bottom holding a double row of silver tone bands around the lid. There is a sturdy plastic cream colored top handle with a swirl design held on to the case by antique hardware. There are four hard plastic cream colored peg feet on the bottom for protection. The hat box has two push lock mechanisms on the side of the lid and a working locking mechanism in the center inscribed with “Royal Traveller”. A silver Royal Traveller key is included which works perfectly to lock the case. The interior of the case and lid are completely lined in a washable tan colored silk like material that has a triangle stitched design and is lightly padded. The bottom interior has seven separate gathered compartments to stow smaller items with two of the compartments having snaps to open up and make larger. There are also two adjustable dark tan ribbon straps on the bottom to hold down items. There are two 7” deep gathered pockets in the interior of the lid with one on top of the other. A dark blue fabric tag with “Royal Traveller Shwayder Bros, Inc Denver” in red and gold lettering is attached to the bottom interior of the lid. The case is heavy at just about 5 1/2 pounds and the dimensions are 17” long, 7” wide, 22 1/2” high including the handle and 5 1/4” deep inside. The exact age of this beautiful hat box luggage case is not known but these particular styles were produced by Shwayder Bros for Royal Traveller in the 1950’s and early 1960’s. The exterior of the case has been completely wiped down and is in wonderful vintage condition. Due to age, there are a few very faint markings and darker markings around the silver tone bands along with two small black scuff markings on the side and bottom. There is also a faint 2” long hair-line scratch on the bottom next to the hardware but there are no chips, cracks, holes, deep scratches or stains anywhere on the exterior. The interior is also in amazingly beautiful condition with only a few light marks on bottom, sides and pockets. There are no tears, rips, or holes anywhere on the interior, no uplifted areas, and no deep staining or odors. Please review all photos included. This is truly a lovely vintage locking hat box travel case. Perfect to use for traveling and to display beautifully.

The inside has lots of wear. It has a pocket that is lined with plastic lace material. It has 4 squares metal brackets inside. The outside brass latches click in and are secure. The hardware looks brass to me but may be steel. I have no key. The handle is an off white as seen. It has a mild old perfume smell if you stick your nose right into its inside. It’s big and heavy. It’s 14” tall, 18.5” wide and varies from 8” to 10” thick / deep when opened on its side as intended. It Has some brass looking details. It weighs almost 7# without packaging. Will require a large box so shipping is pricey. Local pickup is great if applicable. See pictures. Sold as seen. GWP
